Biography

It is almost unnecessary to talk about her technical mastership or virtuosity, whose how agile converted perfection puts her on the list with the greatest pianists”, wrote the Franconian newspaper about Marina’s piano playing.

She has won prizes in numerous national and international piano competitions such as the 1st Prize at the Youth International Chopin Piano Competition in Narva (Estonia), 1st Prize at the Yudina International Chamber Music Competition in St. Petersburg (Russia), 1st Prize at the Gartow Foundation Competition in St. Petersburg (Russia), 1st Prize at the International Competition Frechilla- Zuloaga Piano Award in Valladolid (Spain). She also received the 2nd Prizes at the Lions-Club Competition in Kassel (Germany), the 14th Maria Campina Piano Competition in Faro (Portugal), the 7th Vila de Capdepera International Piano Competition (Spain) and the 3rd Prize at the International Piano Competition “Jose Roca” in Valencia (Spain).

Marina Goshkieva was born in St. Petersburg. She studied at the St. Petersburger Rimsky-Korsakov College with Eleonora Grudinova and at the St. Petersburg Music Conservatory with Tatiana Zagorovskaya. She continued her studies at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar with Prof. Arne Torger and Prof. Rolf-Dieter Arens. She successfully graduated with a Master of Music Degree and consequently finished her postgraduate studies in the class of Prof. Kirill Gerstein at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart (Germany). All her studies in Germany, during the period of 10 years, were supported with the scholarships from prominent funds: Maria Pawlowna Scholarship, Gartow Foundation Scholarship, Carin-Riesen-Foundation and others. She was also awarded with the special Culture Prize from the Lions-Club “Würzburg de Leone”.

Marina has participated in masterclasses with Ferenc Rados, Andras Schiff, Robert Levin, Alfred Brendel, Dimitri Bashkirov, Paul-Badura Skoda, Peter Nagy, Andrei Jasinski and other world famous artists. One of the major influences on her chamber music performance came from masterclasses with Gerhard Schulz and Eberhard Feltz.

She often gives concerts with different orchestras and also performs chamber music throughout Europe. Among her regular venues are: St.Petersburg Philarmonie, Capella Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Jena Philharmonie, Weimar Halle, Valencia Palau de la Música, Valladolid Centro Cultural and others. She also regularly performs recitals.

Marina Goshkieva worked at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar, University of Arts in Berlin and Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin. She has given masterclasses at the Music Conservatory in Sevilla.
